Mark Llewellyn-Beard
Staff Flying Instructor
Mark hails from a family of pilots, he can’t remember wanting to do anything else other than to embark on a flying career. He began his PPL at the age of 16 and went solo just after his 17th birthday in 1981. He qualified as a flying instructor in 1983 and instructed until 1985.
He then qualified as a Commercial Pilot and joined British Air Ferries (BAF) flying the Vickers Viscount in 1985. In 1987 he joined Britannia Airways and finally British Airways in 1990 where he remained with the airline for nearly 31 years, retiring as a Captain on the Boeing 777 in late 2020.
Whilst flying with the Airlines, Mark had maintained his keen interest in General Aviation owning shares in four different light aeroplanes over the years. On retirement he moved to Cyprus for a few years before returning to the UK and taking up residence in Stratford-upon-Avon. He renewed his flying instructor qualification and joined our team as a staff flying instructor in May 2023.
