James grew up on a farm in Norfolk, living alongside the aerodrome used by the USAF 100th Bomb Group which being frequented regularly by many veterans and flypasts, led him to form an early interest in Aviation. After too many years, following a first flight lesson at South Warwickshire Flying School, he discovered he’d rather enjoy flying himself, and gained his PPL.

After many years of enjoying flying trips around the UK and across the channel with SWFS, James decided he’d like to share his knowledge and joy of flying, and completed the training required to become a Flying Instructor FI(A) and Class Rating Instructor CRI(SEP)

James has a BSc(Hons) in Computing Science and is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered IT Professional. Previously working as an IT Director across Automotive, Construction, Marine and Aerospace sectors, he is currently part of the Management team at Evolito Ltd, a Bicester based start-up company developing electrical powertrains and power sources for flight.

Outside of work, James enjoys walking with his Cockapoo and cycling.
