John began his love of flying in the cadets at school in Shropshire when he was fortunate to fly both RAF Chipmunks and gliders in the RAF Cadet force.  He was able to fly from many RAF stations including RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire and RAF Leuchars in Scotland together with RAF Wildenrath in Germany, where he also flew in some transport aircraft.  He obtained his PPL at South Warwickshire Flying School and went on to gain a multi engine rating and instrument ratings both in the UK and in the USA.  He holds a MEP/SEP IR rating for both the UK CAA and US FAA together with an SEP instructor rating and an Aerobatic instructor rating.  He is also a Class Rating Instructor for both SEP and MEP.  In his private life away from flying, he runs a corporate finance advisory business travelling to Europe, Middle East and Asia and is a Visiting Professor in finance at a business school in London.
