Andy obtained his Private Pilot’s Licence in 1992.  He has flown most of the General Aviation types – Cessna 152 & 172, Piper PA28 and such like, also having extensive gliding experience.

After a long career in banking and commercial finance, he took early retirement in 2022.  Andy then undertook a Class Rating Instructor course, joining the SWFS staff in January 2024.  As a CRI, Andy is available to undertake refresher training, licence revalidations, type conversions, and air experience flights.

Andy also works part – time as an AFISO, providing Air Traffic Services from the Wellesbourne Tower.

Outside of aviation, Andy’s other passion is for music.  A keen guitarist, Andy has played in numerous bands, currently being part of an 8 – piece group.  He also enjoys skiing, cycling, and going to the gym.
